Platycerium Cultivars - what are the origins?

With many of the platy cultivars, there is often no mention of what the original species is.  Is there a list where the cultivars and the corresponding species is listed

Eg. What is the species behind "storm", "vassei", "diversifolium", "delight", "celebes" etc etc. Anyone knows?

Hmm, you are referring to cultivars and not hybrids right?
Hybrids are a cross between 2 species but cultivars may just be a variation or different form of the same species!!!

I only know that P. diversifolium is not a hybrid.
It is a different variation of P. Ellisii so it should be list
as P. Ellisii cv Diversifolium. But I think most platy keeper also know it.

P Storm is a cultivars from Japan. it is a variation of P. hillii. P. Storm is named by Mr. Katsu.

P. Vassei, it is a special form of P. alcicorne Madagascar form. P. Vassei's fertile fronds are narrower than standard form but they are no hard to find in fern market. my friend has some from spore growns, he sowed P. Vassei spores.  so far they are having very very narrow fronds I've ever seen. but I don't know in the future, hehehe..

he write about P.Celebes on page 133. Hula Hands on page 142. but no information about P. Delight. do you meant P. Horne's Delight?

I also have 2 plants that came from Idonesia and Philippines. they both are wild plants. I will show you their photos later. they have many things that look like P. Diversifolium.let me find the old photos..

Yes...I have the book and read about celebes before but forgot what it said.  Could not check again as my book went walk-about....and today I just found out where it is

I think it is Horne's Delight - a Hilli cultivar.  I bought a young plant from K. Pitak - spore grown so he could not guarantee it to be like the parent plant, although it does look the same

Haha....I really can't remember what the name of this cultivar is - K. Pitak told me what it was and I was sure it was something like Horne's Delight, but I cannot be certain.  Maybe this time must visit him again and ask

P. Horne's Delight that I have it looks like P. veitchii variation more than hillii. I got it from the US.
